360VR Camera Rig for interior tours & drone flight

SkyeCam Studios 3D 360VR VR video and photo tours better than matterport in Baltimore MarylandSkyeCam Studios has a professional-level, 360 degree 6 camera-array set-up for spherical 360 video and photo capture. Our spherical rig captures 8K video and 50 megapixel photo-spheres.

We can fly the camera set-up by drone or we can bring it on ground in the house for a realistic immersive tour.

We perform better than Matterport as they charge Cloud fees, Cloud rendering fees, and Cloud hosting fees, which we do not. In addition, Matterport does not allow for 360 video, which we do beautifully.

With the ability to fly a 360 camera VR rig, we enable the user to look at anything they want as the camera is flying- a truly stunning sight to see to see an aerial view of.

Additionally, we are registered with Google Street View and can submit interior and exteriors as we are a Google Street View Trusted business.

All of the content we make is fully immersive – you can use it with a head-mounted display such as the Oculus Rift, the HTC Vive, Google Daydream, the Samsung Gear VR or something as simple as Google Cardboard.

We also do the full rendering experience for properties that are not built yet and are looking to presell, develop or advertise with our team of architects, interior designers and game designers. This content can also be viewed on a multitude of applications and even allows the user to change flooring options, wall colors, pick-up items, turn-on-off lights, or anything else you can dream of.

Check out our article for more information on our VR rendering process. You can contact our Baltimore, Maryland office at 443-470-9001.

Legal Drone Photography in Maryland

FAA 333 Approved Drone Company in Baltimore Maryland for hire

Our drone company Skye Cam Productions has received our FAA 333 Exemption, with our Pilots-in-command (PIC) maintaining either their FAA Remote Pilot Part 107 Certificate, or ratings for full-size aircraft. Our drones are all registered for commercial use, and we abide by all airspace rules and current regulations. This allows us to conduct drone photography operations commercially and legally in Baltimore, Maryland, as well as the rest of the United States.

As drone photography has become more prevalent across the United States, the FAA has developed guidelines that must be followed for any business to use an unmanned aircraft system (UAS) for any commercial gain.

These guidelines were developed to keep the national airspace safe while drones become more common for both hobbyists and businesses. With some close calls and injuries related to drone flight making it in the news lately, it is now more important than ever to make sure you are using qualified and legal professionals for any commercial drone photography job.

Here are a few videos that show what mistakes may lead to when a pilot is conducting a drone photography operation without proper safety protocols:

At SkyeCam Studios, we pride ourselves on safety and professionalism. We will always make sure we have a proper flight plan, are not flying over people not involved with the project, and have a spotter on site. This has allowed us to conduct dozens of commercial drone photography operations without a single issue. Our pilots have hundreds of hours of combined experience behind the controls of a variety of drones. We also maintain a minimum of $1,000,000 liability on our drone jobs in Maryland and the rest of the country.

When you are looking for qualified pilots to fly your commercial drone photography job in Baltimore, Maryland, and the rest of the U.S., make sure you are using pilots who are licensed. The license will show their commitment not only to safety, but also to quality of the work.

Feel free to browse our portfolio to see examples of some of our current work. We are always happy to answer any questions you may have about using a drone for your photography or videography needs. We hope to chat with you soon!

Maryland Real Estate Drone Photography and Video

As we cruise past the midsummer peak, we’d like to take this time to reflect on the changing trends of aerial drone photography in real estate throughout Baltimore and the rest of Maryland.

Real Estate Drone Photography

Real estate continues to be a thriving avenue for drone photography to surge through. Realtors are increasingly observing the sales edge gained by adding a portfolio of aerial photographs to the listing page. While in the past, more often than not, you would only see aerial photographs added to the higher-end, multimillion dollar listings, we are now beginning to see a gradual increase in demand for middle tiered property as well. When we do drone photography for real estate we like to add a diverse mix of aerial photographs from a variety of altitudes and angles so that the agent can have many choices on which photographs they want to add to the listing page or their agency’s website. Because of our experience and expertise in the industry and our higher end drones, our work sets us apart from others.

Real Estate Drone Video

Lately one of the most popular services real estate agents have enjoyed has been aerial tours of homes and properties. A short one to two minute showcase video is sufficient enough to give a beautiful new perspective to prospective home buyers. Thanks to advances in technology we are able to fly fully stabilized drones at a fraction of the cost of older aerial craft such as helicopters and Cessna aircraft.

Use Aerial Photos to Create a 3D Model of Your Home

Aerial Photography Company Uses Drone To Create 3d Printed House For Real Estate

Here at SkyeCam Studios, we stay cutting edge by flying the newest drone technology available. We have made it easy and affordable for homeowners and real estate agents alike to have beautiful aerial photos of their properties. Photographing properties from angles that are physically impossible to achieve with ground-based photography, capturing entire landscapes in one aerial photograph, and even surveying the roofs of houses are some examples of why people hire us instead of ground-based photographers. What’s more, our aerial photography services are more efficient and significantly less expensive than helicopter-based aerial photographers, and we can vary our altitude as low as four feet to as high as 1000+ feet. Most of the time, when taking aerial photos of a house, we only need to fly at 100 to 200 feet, an altitude where helicopters can’t even fly safely.

The next step…

Today, we are proud to announce a new technology along with our standard aerial photographic services. We now offer 3D printed representations of the aerial photographs our drone captures. Some of our clients were giving our aerial photographs of their houses as gifts to family members for special occasions. Now, with our 3D printing service, we are offering our customers an even more custom and innovative way to showcase their homes. A 3D printed representation is an accurate portrayal that you can hold and cherish for years to come.

How do we accomplish this?

This process is accomplished first by taking several hundred high-resolution aerial photographs from our drone, which is made easier by the fact that our camera is fully independent from the drone and stabilized. Most aerial photographs from other companies have a blurred quality from the drones’ rotors spinning and moving the camera. We take pride in the fact that even our raw footage looks like it came from a ground-based dolly or jib. The aerial photographs are then taken back to our studio where we stitch and render them together. The rendered product is a full 3D representation that can then be sent through our 3D printer. We use ABS plastic material and can choose from a variety of colors. Our 3D printer is a dual-extruder type so we can print two colors at once. After the print is complete, we then can paint the model to real life detail. The houses can be built up to 9x6x6 inches and can go even bigger by printing in halves and gluing them together.

Our future…

As far as we know, we are the first to offer this service combining two new technologies: drone aerial photography and 3D printing. This product is something that can be purchased as an add-on for our services and is not only a fun gift for homeowners, but also a great product for developers. We only need about a week from your date of booking our aerial photography services to create a final 3D printed representation of your home. We hope to be your next stop for aerial photography and 3D printing.

Film your Wedding by Drone

Drone Used To Film Wedding Photography Company For Hire

Weddings are a once in a lifetime event. Instead of taking photographs by hiring a camera man to walk around awkwardly bumping into guests, brides and grooms can now give their guests room to breathe by taking photographs with a faraway flying device. Wedding drone videography uses these flying cameras, or “drones,” to capture video and still photography in high resolution and to obtain camera angles and elevation that are impossible to achieve from the ground. Gone are the days of one dimensional wedding production and in are the days of infinite aerial possibilities with SkyeCam Studios drone operators based in Baltimore, Maryland.

Positive news…

The Federal Aviation Administration (the “FAA”) and the media have cast a shadow on the world of wedding drone videography, leaving many soon-to-be brides uncertain about hiring wedding drone videography. Fortunately, the news is very positive. Earlier this year, the FAA fined Raphael Pirker, a student at University of Virginia, $10,000 for using a Styrofoam built drone to take aerial footage of her college campus for an advertisement. Pirker appealed to the National Transport and Safety Board. A federal judge quickly dismissed the case in favor of Pirker because the FAA never went through the proper channels to codify into federal law a policy that it had established in 2007 prohibiting the use of drones for commercial purposes. Additionally, many of the FAA regulations do not apply to small model airplanes and similar craft used by drone hobbyists because the FAA has never defined these types of aircrafts as traditional aircrafts.

Our future…

Seeing as the FAA has not yet established regulations to cover the drones we use in our wedding drone videography, we are able to film your wedding by drone. Anyone planning a wedding in the near future in Hawaii or the East Coast via our Baltimore office should contact us today for a quote!

The Positive Future of Drones and Aerial Photography

Aerial Photography Baltimore Maryland

As the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) works to meet its September 2015 deadline to decide on the future of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), also known as multi-copters or “drones,” it is time to gaze into the future of a near certain multi-billion dollar industry.
Although drones often have the negative connotation as military killers, their most important application is on the home front as versatile tools, providing not only affordable alternatives in the world of aerial photography but also  offering applications in a number of previously untouched fields. Let’s take a look at how drones could shape the world in a positive way.

Farming

Every day unnecessary amounts of water, pesticides and other crop inputs are wasted because of inefficient aerial technology leading to thousands of wasted dollars and total crop loss. Drones would provide farmers a fully automated tool to not only accurately give crops the nutrients they need but also to offer aerial photography and video essential to assessing the status and growth of a harvest and lowering the environmental impact of excessive spraying of pesticides. Planes and helicopters are a very inaccurate and expensive tool that can cost up to $1,000 an hour to operate. With an expanding global population trending towards 10 billion, it is essential we transition to efficiency in agriculture by implementing commercial drone technology.

Search and Rescue

Recently a news story emerged about a missing 82-year-old man with dementia in the woods in Virginia. After days of helpless ground searching and helicopter searching, he was found with the help of an amateur drone pilot using first person perspective aerial imagery. This resource provides a much more efficient alternative to on the ground searching, which often requires large numbers of flashlight wielding volunteers and others inefficiently wandering through unnavigable terrain. Organizations are already popping up like the nonprofit Texas EquuSearch. Unfortunately, the FAA is pressuring the organization to stop, despite being involved in nearly 1,500 searches and having successfully found 300 missing persons since its inception. As regulation and restrictions open up, aerial drones will provide an excellent resource to a commonly occurring challenge.

Humanitarian Aid

Earlier this year, a joint MIT-Harvest Health and Sciences project won a $100,000 grant from Bill Gates’ foundation that will allow the researchers to develop drone technology capable of delivering vaccine and medical supplies to the most remote locations on the planet. Other groups such as Matternet in Silicon Valley are working on similar endeavors that will allow suppliers to reach areas inaccessible by roads.

Package and food delivery

Amazon has already announced its new offering called Amazon Air that promises to deliver packages directly to homes in Dominos-esque fashion, 30 minutes or less. They are not the only ones looking forward to using drone technology to allow the transport of goods. A Bay Area startup announced plans to deliver food with its so called “Taco-copter,” but until the FAA establishes rules for such controversial business designs, none of these types will be possible. They do however shine a light into a world of possibilities using drones as delivery mechanisms.

It would be impossible to touch on the never-ending list of realistic possibilities with this technology in the future. Hopefully this article opens minds to see the future of drone technology is not merely limited to aerial photography hobbyists.

Benefits of Aerial Photography for Real Estate in Maryland

Baltimore Maryland Aerial Photography Shot With Drone By Skycam Studios

As the modern home-buyer has evolved into a digital shopper, with statistics from ‘Digital House Hunt’indicating that 90% of home buyers have searched online during the home buying process and 28% have used their mobile phones, it is very clear that high quality photography is an essential component to selling real estate.

Benefits in the Air

Unfortunately regular ground photography is incapable of showcasing luxury property to its highest potential. For years real estate agents have patched this issue by resorting to aerial photography services reliant upon helicopter and small aircraft. Not only is this option very impractical economically but additionally the photographs and video taken are limited by poor stabilization, elevation and space inflexibility (these types of aircraft are incapable of flying at low altitudes and over certain terrain) and time. The birth of the drone has resolved the main issues with aerial photography for real estate by providing higher quality photography and video at a fraction of the cost of the previously available services.

Minutes to Takeoff

Within minutes of arriving at the location of a house, the drone can be airborne, perform multiple takes of a shot without being constrained by a limited fuel time, and reach any angle or altitude desired by the agent. Maryland is a place of beauty with homes that deserve to be showcased properly. We are able to travel nationwide.
